FAQ

Why Hire Dewey’s Critter Care Professional Pet Sitters?

  • In-home professional pet sitting service provides added peace of mind.

  • Pets are happier and experience less stress at home.

  • Diet and exercise routines are uninterrupted.

  • Travel trauma for both owner and pet is eliminated.

  • Pet's exposure to illness is minimized.

  • Untrained or unwilling friends/family/neighbors need not be involved.

  •

How does Dewey’s Critter Care handle alarm systems?

Dewey’s Critter Care asks clients to program our special code and password into their security system.

If a client doesn’t know how to add a number, no problem! Your security company will help. Anytime you give a person access to your home, you should notify your security company anyway. This call takes about 2 minutes. The customer service team can walk you through adding a new code. By using our code, we don’t have to record your code ANYWHERE which is the safest and most secure way to do things.

Why are you charging a fuel surcharge? Isn't that cost built into the visit rate?

The price for regular unleaded gas is subject to market fluctuations, regretfully it has become necessary for us to charge a fuel surcharge. The surcharge will help to offset the burden of high fuel costs.

Dewey’s Critter Care fuel surcharge policy is as follows:

  • Price of Gas $2.50 or less = $0

  • Price of Gas $2.50 through $3.20 = Fuel Surcharge $0.50

  • Price of Gas $3.21 through $3.50 = Fuel Surcharge $0.75

  • Price of Gas $3.51 through $3.75 = Fuel Surcharge $1.00

  • Price of Gas $3.76 through $4.00 = Fuel Surcharge $1.25

  • Price of Gas $4.01 through $4.25 = Fuel Surcharge $1.50

On the 1st of each month, I will look at the average Greenville area fuel costs through AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

Adjustments to the fuel surcharge will be made as follows:

  • Appointments that begin in the previous month and end in the following month will remain at their current fuel surcharge rate.

  • Appointments that do NOT bridge 2 months will be adjusted higher or lower based on the schedule above.

  •

Why do holiday fees apply to days other than the actual holidays?

Rates are increased during these times due to the significant increase in the need for pet sitting. Dates in which Dewey’s Critter Care Holiday Rates apply are derived from federal holidays. The holiday rates do not apply to the individual day only. Several days before or after the actual holiday may also fall under our Holiday Policy.

Why does Dewey’s Critter Care ask for a copy of my house key? May I give you the code to my garage instead?

We ask for a key to have access to care for your pet. We do not like to accept just electronic entry options like a garage door code. If your home has a power failure and we aren’t able to get in, your pet(s) could suffer. Also, keys left under mats, in flower pots, etc. could be found by the wrong person.

A $5 charge will be applied if you’d like us to make a copy of your key for you.

Will my keys be returned after you care for our critters?

Absolutely! However, we can keep your key in your file for the convenience of future pet sitting services and to enable online/telephone reservations.  Should you choose to have your key returned, a $5 key pick up/drop off charge may be applied to future visits dependent on your location.
